Is professional wedding photography ever going to get any cheaper?

I’ve scoured the internet and a gazillion wedding fayres but every photographer seems to be out of our price range.  We’re only having a mid week budget wedding but they’re still all charging through the roof.  I mean fair enough, they’re including pre-wedding shoots and evening event photography but I just want a disc only package, I’m not even bothered about included albums, I can do my own.  I’ll even do my own editing but I just really resent paying more for someone to take picture of my wedding day than it costs for the reception, outfits and cake put together!  I’m tempted to just go on forums and see if there’s a photography student out there wanting some experience and portfolio building rather than getting professional wedding photography, I’ll save the money for the honeymoon!
