String ensembles
String Quartet is our most requested and preferred ensemble. Consisting of two violins, viola and cello, the quartet is the most popular and important form of chamber music. Composers have been writing for this ensemble since the 18th century thus its vast repertoire. The string quartet can play a variety of styles as well as specific arrangements of songs for your event because the four individual voices help to support the solo line with complete harmony and a structured bass line. The string quartet is perfect for a large church or outside wedding.
We understand that not all weddings have the budget for a string quartet. The String Trio is another wonderful option. The instrumentation can be one violin, one viola, one cello or two violins and cello.
For small intimate settings, a duo is a perfect match. Appassionata performs as a violin cello duo and a cello duo. Both these options provide an personal and elegant touch however are limited on repertoire for popular and contemporary selections.
Vocalists
Often times, clients request that we play with a vocalist for their wedding. We are more than happy to accommodate a friend or relative who would like to dedicate a special song to you. We usually communicate directly with that person and schedule a 15 minute rehearsal before the prelude begins.
Adding a trumpet fanfare or a flute to the string ensemble creates a sense of regal grandeur. Typically the trumpet would play a few selections with the string ensemble for the bridal parties processional and the couples exit.
