Emotional Sobriety

What is the importance of emotional sobriety in recovery from addiction?  It is actually of critical importance to maintain this because if you do not then you will get knocked off your pedestal and become vulnerable to relapse.

Those who are seeking emotional sobriety need to strive to achieve a balance in their life because without this balance their emotional state can potentially snowball into a relapse.  For example, if you get really upset about one of the relationships in your life and you let it drive you to distraction, then you are using a lot of mental and emotional energy that could be spent on other things, such as keeping you sober.
