Living With Hiatal Hernia

Conforming to a hiatal hernia diet is an essential element of living with hiatal hernia. While your doctor may prescribe medication to control some of your symptoms, you can do a great deal to help prevent the discomfort of acid reflux due to your hernia. Limit caffeinated drinks. Many doctors recommend no caffeine within a few hours of your bed time. Cut back or eliminate spicy foods. While they may be delicious to eat, you may find that these kinds of foods just aren’t worth the pain. Acidic foods like citrus or tomato juice can also aggravate a hiatal hernia and should be avoided.
