Need some alterations

Last week I bought a house from a Fort Collins real estate agent. The house was available in resale and thus the agent had little to do with it, except his commission. I have seen that there are some portions in the house which need to be repaired. Also some things are not on their place and I may need some alterations in the house. Now I am confused that what I must do. I can either ask the seller to make the changes or can hire some contractor who could do the same for me. Somebody please help me with the right decision in this condition.
