When Hip Hop Started

When hip hop burst onto the scene back in the early 1970’s it was seen as a rebellion against the mainstream music styles such as disco and rock and roll.With clubs and ghettos opening up all over New York, hip hop was welcomed as an alternative and appreciated by many.Nevertheless, as styles of hip hop and loop download altered over the years, lyrics became harder as ‘Gangsta Rap’ took over. Well known rappers, such as Chuck D and N.W.A, talked about run ins with the police and gang violence and rap was seen as more of a culture than style of music.
