Metal Active Gases Welding: A Wonderful Semi-Automatic Process for Welding

October 30, 2009 on 11:18 am | By | In Miscellaneous | No Comments

Metal active gases welding or MAG is a welding process that is semi-automatic. It can help in the production of moderated to the high welded metal deposition rates. Direct current gets used in Metal active gases welding, as it is passed between the work piece and consumable electrode. The arc is used for melting the electrode and fusing the base metal. This leads to the creation of a pool of molten weld, which gets solidified and used in the welded joint. Both the electrode and the pool get protected from the ambient using a shield of active (oxidizing gases) or inert gases.
