Liens Other Than Tax Liens

There are many other types of liens other than tax liens that can be placed on a property. A mortgage is a type of voluntary lien. When you receive a mortgage loan, you are placing your property up for collateral. This is sometimes known as a mortgage lien. But when we think of a lien, we usually think of the involuntary ones. The construction company that built the house, or did work on the property prior to the construction of the home, can place a lien on the house if they are owed payment. This is known as a construction or mechanic’s lien.
