The Last of the Soybean Oil

August 1, 2009 on 12:31 pm | By | In Technology | No Comments

I didn’t know what in the world I was going to do. The plant was going through 500-gallon totes at a tremendous rate. We couldn’t seem to get them clean. The old scrubber would get them close, but the new processes were using a lot of soybean oil, and no matter what we did there was always a film of oil left in the corners. Looking out through the warehouse, I could see a dozen of the big, square, almost-clean totes waiting for someone to come up with a solution. That someone was supposed to be me, so I got on the phone. “Jane, I need you to find me some vendors for new tank cleaning equipment,” I said. You hate to spend the money, but we needed a fix and right away. It turned out to be the right decision.
